Elementary Teaching PositionThe Edinburg Common School District located in upper Saratoga County near the Great Sacandaga Lake is currently seeking applications for a 1.0 FTE tenure track elementary teaching position. Candidates must have NYS Certification in Elementary Childhood Education 1 - 6 (Common Branch Subjects). Prospective candidates must demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning and self-reflection in their craft. Essential FunctionsThorough knowledge of the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards in math and ELA with a strong literacy background. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Strong understanding of childhood development.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Candidates should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Experience with social and emotional learning is preferred.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Encourages family involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and families.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, instructional coach, outside evaluator, and principal/superintendent. Excellent communication skills.
