Reading Teacher, Probationary2025-2026Eastchester Middle SchoolEastchester Middle School is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and student-centered educator to fill a probationary Reading Teacher position. Under the general supervision of the school principal, the Reading Teacher will play a critical role in supporting student success and growth in reading by addressing the individual literacy needs of students across a range of abilities.This position involves working closely with students who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support their reading goals, as well as those identified for targeted reading intervention through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process. The Reading Teacher will collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, special education staff, school counselors, and administrators to ensure a coordinated approach to student support. In addition, the teacher will maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and foster a shared commitment to literacy development.Key Responsibilities:Deliver direct reading instruction aligned with IEP goals and MTSS recommendations.Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet evolving needs.Collaborate closely with special education teachers, classroom teachers, school counselors, and administrators to support student learning.Maintain detailed records and contribute to IEP meetings and MTSS team discussions.Foster a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom climate where all students can thrive.Qualifications:NYS Certification in Reading/Literacy (Middle School grades appropriate).Demonstrated experience or coursework in literacy intervention strategies.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Passion for supporting diverse learners and helping all students reach their full potential.Eastchester Middle School is committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and achievement-oriented environment.
