Elementary Education Teacher, Probationary - MTSS/Junior Great BooksGrades K-12024-2025Waverly SchoolThe Eastchester School District is seeking a qualified candidate to develop higher level, critical thinking skills in students through the use of rich literature and discussion techniques.Responsibilities:Provide literacy enrichment instruction to students at or above grade level, with a particular emphasis on critical thinking skills during WIN periodCollaborate with MTSS team to administer universal screeners/diagnostics/progress monitoring tools and to analyze literacy dataPlan and deliver rigorous lessons using Junior Great Books and the shared inquiry methodGuide/facilitate students' critical thinking skills through rich questioning and discussion techniquesDemonstrate knowledge and understanding of literacy progression in grades K-1Articulate with classroom teachers, support staff, administration and families regarding student progress and growthProvide literacy resources and workshops to families through Parent University and newslettersAssist with facilitation of the shared inquiry methodExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsRequirements:Dual NYS certification preferred: Early Childhood Education (B-2) and Literacy NYSED Fingerprint Clearance*Employment Terms:10 month, probationary positionSalary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule; $61,939 - $85,725 step placement contingent upon prior related experience. *Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law ยงยง305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES).
