Substitute Bus AttendantHours: 6:45 AM - 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM - 4:15 PM Salary: $16.00/hourExisting Monitors will receive their regular rate of payResponsibilities: Supervision of students on school bus to ensure bus rules are followed and students are safe on the school bus or other school vehicles. Assist in loading and unloading of students at bus stops including getting on and off the bus at each stop and crossing the street if necessary. Provide school bus safety instruction to students when necessary. Assist school bus driver in creating written emergency evacuation plans on vehicles. Assist in conducting required school bus emergency drills. Take attendance on each school bus shift. Assign seats for students on the school bus. Writing and submitting student conduct reports or incident reports. Become familiar with District school bus routes and school bus stop locations. Be aware of and comply with all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to pupil transportation. Requirements: Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position, required physical performance testing per NY Department of Education regulations. Attend all required training including pre-service and bi-annual in-service training. Ability to work effectively with primary and elementary school children. Ability to remain patient and caring with young children. Ability to establish good working relationships with students, parents and school personnel. Ability to take oral and written directives. Prerequisite:Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law §§305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES). The Commissioner of Education carries out these responsibilities through the New York State Education Department's Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability (OSPRA).
