Assistant Principal(1.0 FTE) TERMS OFEMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 12-month, tenure track, building-level administrative assignment.Competitive salary; negotiable based on qualifications and experience.Full complement of health benefits REPORTS TO: School Principal SUPERVISES: Faculty and staff in the Resilience Academy. QUALIFICATIONS,EXPERIENCE ANDCOMPETENCIES: NYS certification as a School Building Leader is required.NYS Certification in Special Education title is requiredExperience with the New York State Assessment and High School Level experience preferred.Minimum of three years of successful leadership experience in the area of Special Education is required,High School experience preferredInvolvement with Autism Training preferredSuccessful record in the planning, development and assessment of MTSS.Successful record of service as teacher is required.Strong communication, problem solving, and human relations skills. DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: General Administration/ManagementProvide leadership and supervision to Resilience Academy programs at Dutchess BOCES. Exercise sound judgment and appropriate discretion in the administration of professional duties. Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of laws and regulations related to student discipline. Evaluate assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized. Facilitate communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts. Implement policies, procedures and/or processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements. Intervene in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills. Manage a variety of school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned personnel, arrivals/departures etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district and state policy and maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations. Oversee the training and implementation of Crisis Intervention Protocols. Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Work with other administrators and participate in the recruitment, orientation and induction, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty and support staff assigned to Salt Point Center. May serve as the Summer Program School Principal Perform other administrative and/or supervisory duties as assigned. EVALUATION: The Assistant Principal’s performance will be evaluated annually by the Principal.
