COORDINATOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 12-month, tenure track, district-level administrative assignment. Competitive salary; 100,000$ - 130,000$ negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Full complement of health benefits REPORTS TO: Director of Alternative and Special EducationPOSITION OBJECTIVE: Provide leadership and oversight for student programs and success in all locations including Salt Pint Center, Resilience Academy, CTI, and In-District programs QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: NYS certification as a School Building Leader or School District Leader is required. Leadership experience preferred, but not required Candidates with a special education background are encouraged to apply DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General Program Oversight: Contribute to developing and managing budgets with stakeholder collaboration Oversee all aspects of Summer School (ESY), including staffing, scheduling, and training Implement and maintain referral processes for all student programs Coordinate meetings with program personnel Track student performance, attendance, and engagement Provide support for students with academic, behavioral, or attendance concerns Facilitate communication among students, families, staff, and administration Ensure accurate data entry into student management systems Collaborate with the Special Programs Systems Specialist on required reporting Curriculum Development & Implementation: Support the design and delivery of college-level coursework in high schools Assist with summer curriculum development for summer school programming Work with building leaders and instructional coaches on curriculum alignment Promote project-based learning that integrates academic and technical skills Collaborate with NYSED, school leaders, and post-secondary partners to adjust program scope as needed Staff Development: Plan and deliver professional development and coaching to teachers and leaders on topics including: Equity Data-informed instruction Students with disabilities and ELLs Effective assessment practices Other Duties: Participate in CSE meetings as necessary Perform additional administrative and supervisory responsibilities as assigned EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special and Alternative Education. SUPERVISES: Designated personnel to ensure performance standards are met.
