(PSEL) to balance supervising staff with the primary focus of instructional leadership. Major Responsibilities and Functions:Instructional Leadership:Strong philosophical alignment to the Duanesburg Central School District Board of Education and Superintendent’s mission and goals.Motivates students and school personnel to achieve maximum potential.Collaborate with the leadership teams to develop and implement and monitor a continuous school improvement plan that results in increased student achievement and social emotional learning.Communicates a clear vision of excellence and continuous improvement consistent with the goals outlined in the district school improvement plan.Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions with staff, students, families and administration.Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff.Conduct academic walkthroughs every week.Establish, promote, and implement research based practices, including Restorative Justice/Culture of Care, and others that promote engagement.Establish, promote and implement excellence through curriculum and instructional strategies and practices to promote accelerated growth.Develop extensive knowledge of PreK-5 curriculum, standards, research based practices and strategies for all grade levels/content areas.Active participation in grade-level and/or content curriculum development to assist in developing and implementing curriculum.Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement an effective and efficient benchmark assessment schedule.Develop building level Master Schedule by June 30th of each school year.Collect and analyze data regarding the needs and achievement of students. This will include, but not limited to, disciplinary referrals, suspension data, climate survey data, on-going survey data, State Assessments, benchmark assessments and quarterly grades.Facilitate periodic data dialogue meetings with staff to develop targeted interventions and research based practices to ensure all students move toward academic excellence.Increase district social justice and equity awareness.Ensures students with disabilities have access to general education curriculum and extra-curricular activities.Ensures collaboration between general education and special education teachers to promote equity and access. Ensures that students’ IEPs are met and the individual needs of the students to include:Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as the superintendent shall directAssumes additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned by the Superintendent.Operations and Management:Maintains sensitivity and strict confidentiality to students and staff situations/problems both internally and externally.Establish the master scheduleEnsure compliance with all New York State laws and regulations and Board of Education policies.Ensure and promote staff to design coherent instruction modeled on the rigor of the Danielson rubric, and Next Generation Standards, Social Emotional Learning and Restorative PracticesProvide timely evaluations and observations based on the district approved APPR and NYSED regulations.Visits the classrooms frequently to observe first-hand the instructional methods, materials, and social-emotional support procedures used by teachers Advises teachers regarding instruction, classroom management, and student discipline;Assigns all staff in the school to such duties, and activities as are necessary for the efficient operation of the schoolHold regular faculty meetings and maintain effective communication with all school personnel.Conducts studies, surveys, research, etc., as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.Assumes responsibility of administrative coverage/attendance for all student activities and events.Collaborating with the administrative team to maintain the school, staff and attendance handbook of policies and procedures, including: the school division's standards of student conduct and enforcement procedures, along with matters of interest to parents and students.Complete all necessary requirements as Testing Coordinator for all assessments.Organize and lead a Mentoring program for all new teaching staff.Collaborate with the business office to oversee all extracurricular activities including clubs and athleticsEnsures that instructional time is protected from interruptions and intrusions.Establish and manage an effective progressive discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the Superintendent and Board of Education. Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students. File all required reports regarding violence, vandalism, attendance and discipline matters.Notify the Superintendent immediately, and appropriate personnel and agencies, when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or students appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.Develop clearly understood procedures and provide regular drills for emergencies and disasters.Complete and uphold deadlines for all records and reports as requested by the Superintendent.Attend and/or facilitate district committee meetings including, but not limited to, District Leadership Team, counseling, data dialogue, MTSS, special education, 504, School Based Support Team, School Advisory Team and attendance team.Delegates responsibility for a variety of administrative functions to other personnel for the purpose of managing the workload more efficiently.Supervise and evaluate all support staff yearly.
