The Dover Union Free School District is currently accepting applications for a Teaching Assistant for the 2025/2026 School Year with an anticipated start date of September 2, 2025. 1. Certification from New York State Education Department. 2. College credit required for position.3. Interpersonal skills that always reflect a positive tone and work relationship with students.4. Competence in using technology and software to help student learning.5. Satisfies all other New York State Education Department requirements for Teaching Assistant position. Performance Responsibilities:1. Implements plans and activities, as directed.2. Present segments of lessons as directed.3. Prepares educational materials and resources.4. Oversees students in instructional activities or related areas.5. Maintains classroom materials, student files, and confidential records, etc. (e.g., adapting instructional materials, checking papers, attendance, set up adapted projects, etc.) to ensure availability of items and/or provide reliable information.6. Watches students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots, trips, PE, special events, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.7. Implements behavioral plans designed by IEP teams for students with behavioral disorders or other conditions to assist in meeting special education students’ needs and providing a consistent environment.8. Confers with teacher/s (special education and/or mainstream teacher) on a regular basis to assist in evaluating special education student progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.9. Attends meetings and in-service presentations (e.g., first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, etc.) to acquire and/or convey information relative to job functions.10. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective function of the school.
