The Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi seeks a highly qualified candidate to fill the following:Position: Athletic Coordinator (Part time Extra-Curricular position, requires 12-month availability) Start Date: July 1, 2024 Salary: $18,000/year as per DAFA contract Qualifications: Models a vision for preparing future-ready student-athletesStrong collaboration, organizational, written and communication skillsPrevious coaching and coordination experience preferredKnowledge of the NYSPHAA rules and regulations Job Duties Statement:The Athletic Coordinator shall provide leadership, supervision, and coordination of a comprehensive athletic program that supports the physical and social/emotional growth of all student-athletes. Coordination of Athletic Programs:Maintain records for all athletics and facilitate all athletic registration processesCollaborate with principals and coaches to confirm athletic eligibilityWork with the school nurse and Medical Director to arrange for all athletes to have physical examinationsArrange schedules for all athletic contests and practices including facilities useCoordinate arrangements for the operation of all home athletic eventsCollaborate with the Director of Transportation to arrange for transportation to all away events and practicesCollaborate with building administration, Varsity Club, and other staff to plan and arrange for pep rallies, award assemblies, and other athletic-related events outside of contestsCollaborate with public relations and coaches to issue press releases concerning athleticsMake recommendations to administration regarding varsity, junior varsity and modified programsAssist the HS Principal to develop and update, as needed, a District Athletic HandbookRegularly inspect all facilities, fields and equipment to ensure safety and preparedness for contestsTimely completion of all records and reports as required or requested by the Superintendent or HS Principal Coordination and Management of Athletic Personnel:Attend and/or coordinate supervision at home games, meets and contests in accordance with NYSPHSAA rules and regulationsIdentify and coordinate coaching staff including job postings and recommendations for hiringMaintain records of completion of in-service training and required certifications for coaches. Public Relations:Represent the district at athletic, community, league, state, NYSPHSAA, and professional meetingsMaintain visibility with students, staff, parents, and the community, attending practices and events regularly and scheduling parent meetings each seasonDisplay the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and agencies associated with the schoolCollaborate with district staff to livestream athletic events to the public as needed Attend Board of Education meetings to report on the status of the athletic program as requested by the superintendentParticipate on the Athletic Subcommittee if maintained by the Board of Education Annual Budget:Assist the Business Administrator to prepare an annual budget of the athletic program for each school yearAssist the Business Office in the timely processing all requisitions for athletic equipment and supplies. Document all supplies upon receipt, and distribute to coachesKeep an inventory of all athletic equipment and supplies. Be responsible to oversee that all coaches care for, maintain, recover, and store all athletic equipment. Other:Maintain all necessary personal NYS certifications and training to effectively execute all job dutiesRecommend policies and procedures to promote a healthy and supportive climate for athleticsPerform duties as assigned by the superintendent or principal(s) not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation and consistent with typical duties for this title as may be governed by NYSPHSAA.The job duties of the Athletic Coordinator requires high degrees of planning, organization, coordination, flexibility and patience. Work outside of the school day is expected and required. The AC must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. The AC must maintain high levels of visibility and the ability to work under stressful conditions. Due to the multiple responsibilities associated with this position, the Athletic Coordinator may not be appointed to a full time coaching position without the approval of the superintendent under extraordinary circumstances.
