Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi Job Duties Description Elementary Teacher Distinguishing Features of the Class: Under the direction of the Building Principal, the certified elementary teacher develops and provides English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Social Emotional Learning instruction to meet the needs of students assigned to the classroom. The teacher will evaluate and assess student progress; provide quarterly written reports to parents and guardians, and will work with elementary educational stakeholders to meet the needs of all students in the classroom. Typical Work Activities (Illustrative only): Provides research-based instruction in the Next Generation Learning Standards for ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Currently we are using CKLA, Eureka Math, and teacher made materials for science and social studies Provides Social Emotional Learning instruction, implementation, and follow-up utilizing the Second Step program. Assesses student progress and determines need for additional enrichment, reinforcement, or intervention Employs various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet grade level standards Schedules team meetings and works proactively with the RtI committee and others in developing targeted interventions, instructional goals, and strategies to meet the needs of all students in the classroom Collaborates with special education teachers in the delivery of special education services consistent with the student’s IEP Uses multiple sources of data to inform instructional and intervention decisions Creates a positive and inclusive learning environment Provides direction, supervision, and evaluation of teaching assistants, aides and or student teachers Complies with school board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations Completes all district and state reporting requirements Willing to participate in building level activities and events Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student growth, cooperation, and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures Collaborates and consults with educational professionals and community services providers regarding the needs of students Ensures all classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans, and other similar instructional interventions are provided to meet the needs of students with disabilities Serves as primary parent contact regarding all school related information Performs all other comparable duties of a like or similar nature apparent or as assigned. Performs all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program as directed by a supervisor Full Performance, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: Proven experience as a teacher preferred, but not required Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Well-organized and committed Creative and energetic Willing to work collaboratively with team members Strong moral values and discipline Participates in ongoing professional development opportunities Minimum Qualifications: New York State Certification in Elementary Education Bachelor’s Degree Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of reading instruction Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension and Writing Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of mathematics instruction Counting and Cardinality, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Measurement and Data, Geometry, Number Sense and Operations-Fractions, and Numbers and Operations-Fractions Ability to integrate science and social studies principles, practices, and procedures through cross curricular integration with ELA and Math Instruction Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching Thorough knowledge of school rules, regulations and procedures Knowledge and skills working with children with Autism, ADHD, behavioral and emotional disabilities Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public Salary: Per Delaware Academy Faculty Association (DAFA) Agreement 5/10/21 (JAM)
