OverviewDevelopmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various educational settings, residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.Working in DDI's Early Childhood Services division the Early Intervention Special Education Teacher ABA works along side the Early Childhood Aide and Assistants as part of the interdisciplinary team. Working in the classroom the Early Intervention Special Education Teacher ABA works with children with developmental disabilities on a variety of age appropriate educational goals.Location: 25 Little Plains Rd, Huntington NY.($200 per day) (M-F 8a-1:30p)ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, assess, and screen students using appropriate standardized testing and clinical observational skillsResponsible for the implementation of a child’s IFSP and progress towards goalsDemonstrate the knowledge and ability to implement the curricula utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior AnalysisDemonstrate the knowledge and ability to effectively manage classroom behaviors and implement Behavior Intervention PlansProvide required documentation for EI services that your program and/or supervisor have outlined for youDemonstrate ability to collect data and maintain documentation in a professional, efficient, accountable and confidential mannerSupervise children during classroom activitiesDemonstrate the ability to effectively manage the assigned classroom staffAttend all meetings as scheduled and collaborate with other professional, staff and familiesResponsible for the maintenance of classroom materials and suppliesMaintain and update professional knowledge, skills, and abilities through appropriate education, in-service training or high educationOther duties as assignedEssential FunctionsAbility to lift up to 30 pounds (child) to a height of 3 feet (place child on changing table).Ability to carry 30 pounds (child) up to 200 feet.Must be able to run after a child up to 200 feet.Must be able to grasp, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.Must be able to get up and down from floor.Must have ability to follow oral and written directions and respond to fire alarm.Must be able to ascend and descend stairs with railing.QualificationsNYSED certification Special Education Birth to Grade 2Knowledge of Early Intervention Regulations preferredExperience working with young children with disabilities preferredGood interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
