Join the DDI, Early Childhood Services team where best practices are utilized to provide superior education and therapeutic services for children who present with developmental delays. We are looking to recruit preschool special education teachers for our Early Childhood Learning Centers. All teachers are offered on-going trainings and support provided by experts in the field of education. Our classrooms are designed to increase student engagement and promote independence. Each of our 3 locations have beautiful outdoor learning areas, including an outdoor classroom.Our school programs operate on a 12 month calendar with 9 weeks of vacation scheduled throughout the year.Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00am-3:30pm. (35 hours/week)Salary Range: $55,000 - $88,000/year depending on teaching experienceQualifications:Masters Degree in Special EducationNYSED certification in Special Education in one of the following areas:NYSED Students with Disabilities Birth - 2nd gradeNYSED Students with Disabilities - All GradesNYSED Permanent Special EducationNYSED Special Education certification and also holds Severe or Multiple Disabilities AnnotationGood interpersonal, communication and organizational skills Responsibilities:Evaluate, assess and screen students using appropriate standardized testing and clinical observational skillsResponsible for the implementation of a child’s IEP/IFSP and progress towards goalsDemonstrate the knowledge and ability to implement the curriculum as outlinedDemonstrate the knowledge and ability to effectively manage classroom behaviorsProvide required documentation for services that your program and/or supervisor have outlined for you.Maintain documentation in a professional, efficient, accountable and confidential mannerDemonstrate the ability to effectively manage the assigned classroom staffAttend all meetings as scheduled and collaborate with other professional, staff and familiesResponsible for the maintenance of classroom materials and suppliesMaintain and update professional knowledge, skills and abilities through appropriate education, in-service training or higher educationOther duties as assigned Essential Physical Demands:Must be able to modify the area to secure the safety of childrenAbility to move/transport a child weighing up to 30 pounds to a height of 3 feet to place child on changing tableMust be able to move quickly after a child up to 200 feet to prevent elopementMust be able to position self or maneuver classroom to facilitate student instruction in classroom and playground environmentMust have ability to follow oral and written directions and detect/respond to fire alarmsMust be able to ascend and descend stairs with railing
