TITLE:Transportation SupervisorLOCATION:BOCES wide REPORTS:Health and Safety Coordinator TERMS:Full-time, 12 months QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Qualifications:A. Three years of experience as a full-time paid operator of a motor vehicle or its part-time equivalent which shall include some experience in automotive repair and maintenance and (1) one year experience training CDL drivers; ORB. Three years of full-time paid experience as an automotive mechanic or its part-time equivalent and (1) one year experience training CDL drivers; ORC. Any equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to indicate the ability to perform the duties of the position.Commercial Driver's License, Classes A and B w/ S and P endorsements: SBDI and 19A certifications Three years paid experience operating a commercial motor vehicle; one year experience training CDL drivers; 6 months experience as a presenter or trainer.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS: Eligibility for the appropriate level New York State Driver's License at the time of application. Possession of license at time of appointment. School Bus Drivers must meet the qualifications of the applicable parts of Article 19 A of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, Part 6 of the Regulations of the Department of Motor Vehicles (Commissioner's Regulations) and Section 156.3 of the Regulations of the Department of Education (Commissioner's Regulations). RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:Trains candidates to quality for a commercial driver’s license under the new Federal Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program. Conducts all required trainings for school bus drivers and aides required by NYSED School Bus Driver Instructor program to meet the requirements of the 10 hour, 30 hour, 2 hour, and 4 hour courses. Administers and maintains records of physical performance testing for school bus drivers required under Commissioner’s Regulation 156.3 for participating districts as well as DCMO. Manage DCMO Transportation services, including transportation contracts, field trips, qualifications of “occasional drivers” and fleet use. Maintains driver records, including 19-A files and for Occasional Drivers. Oversees Alcohol and Controlled Substance testing contract and records for DCMO and participating districts. Ensure commercial motor vehicles and trailers are inspected and in proper working order. Ensure classroom and range facilities are properly set up and in compliance with all applicable Federal, state and/or local regulations.
