POSITION: Special Education Teacher Probationary ApptQUALIFICATIONS: New York State certified (or certifiable) in special education, familiar with current research, methodology, and learning standards in special education. Previous background/ experience desirable.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are typical duties associated with the position; however, the list is not all-inclusive, and other duties appropriate to the position may also be assigned.Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, including those focusing on life skills development. Provide instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and daily living skills.Design and implement curriculum and instruction tailored to help students with disabilities develop essential life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, self-care, and vocational skills.
