Job Title: School Social Worker Job Summary:The Cato-Meridian School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our team, providing essential support services to students and families throughout the district. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a deep commitment to the well-being of students in an educational setting. As a School Social Worker, you will collaborate with students, families, educators, and community resources to address social, emotional, behavioral, and familial challenges that may impact a student's.Responsibilities:-Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns of students across all grade levels.-Assess and evaluate students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs through observations, interviews, and assessments.-Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support students in achieving academic and personal goals.-Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to create a positive and supportive school climate conducive to learning.-Provide crisis intervention and support services to students and families experiencing emergencies or traumatic events.-Advocate for students and families to ensure access to necessary resources, including, not limited to mental health services, housing assistance, and community support programs.-Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies to coordinate and facilitate referrals and services.-Participate in multidisciplinary teams and meetings to develop and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans for students with special needs.-Conduct home visits and family meetings to build positive relationships and strengthen family involvement in the educational process.-Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with legal and ethical standards.-Stay informed about social, emotional, and behavioral trends, research, and best practices in the field of school social work through professional development activities and training opportunities.-Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.Qualifications:-Provisional or permanent NYS certification as a LMSW or LCSW-Previous experience working with children and adolescents in an educational or social service setting is preferred.-Knowledge of child development, family systems, and trauma-informed care principles.-Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.-Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.-Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in responding to the dynamic needs of students and families.-Proficiency in using technology for documentation, communication, and data management.-Commitment to uphold ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines in all aspects of practice.Note: This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the position and is not exhaustive.
