The Cold Spring Harbor Central School District seeks a dynamic, student-centered K-12 Music Teacher with a primary focus in instrumental (band) instruction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in music pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, and performance direction, while also contributing to a comprehensive, sequential music program that supports all learners. This position requires a passionate educator who values collaboration, creativity, and innovation, and who is committed to fostering musical growth and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Responsibilities : Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues Conduct and rehearse band ensembles, preparing students for concerts and performances Conduct and rehearse small group instrumental lessons Integrate music technology into instruction Collaborate with K-12 music faculty to ensure program continuity and excellence Contribute to departmental and district initiatives, performances, and events Qualifications Required : New York State Certification in Music (K-12) Strong background in instrumental music education (band emphasis) Demonstrated effective classroom management skills Commitment to student-centered learning and differentiated instruction Preferred : Proficiency in piano for rehearsal, instruction, and accompaniment Experience with music technology and digital audio production Familiarity with NYSSMA repertoire, procedures, and adjudication Experience with musical theater (pit conducting, rehearsal support, or production involvement) Evidence of collaboration and contribution to a comprehensive music program Cover letter may be addressed to Brian Taylor, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources No telephone calls, please
