Vacancy ~ 2025-26F/T Full-Year Leave Replacement Elementary Reading AIS TeacherREQUIREMENTSSuccessful candidates must possess:· NYS Teacher Certification (Literacy, Birth - Grade 6 or All Grades)· At least five years of classroom teaching experience including teaching literacy· Strong background in literacy (required) and academic support experience (preferred)· Orton-Gillingham and/or Wilson Reading experience (preferred)· Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt lessons to address individual student needs · Strong classroom management and behavior management skills· Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, community members, and staff members DESCRIPTIONThis position will support student learning of literacy through:· Data-driven targeted instruction for identified students· Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from students.· Providing direct instruction to students identified as eligible for reading and phonics academic intervention services in individual, and/or small group settings that facilitate active learning experiences· Providing instruction to support classroom units of study and to bridge students’ foundational gaps in literacy· Using identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of the learning standards in literacy· Using a multi-sensory, structured and systematic approach that builds a student’s foundational knowledge of phonetic concepts· Developing lessons to engage students with comprehension strategies and vocabulary development· Conducting student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, to plan instruction, and to assist staff members in implementing Tier 1 intervention strategies· Assessing the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and providing progress reports as required · Fostering and maintaining regular communication with the classroom teacher, AIS coordinator and administration· Fostering and maintaining effective communication with parents and/or guardians· Maintaining accurate and complete records of assessment data and steps for progress monitoring· Conducting data meetings with AIS coordinator, teachers, support staff and administrators· Attending literacy-focused professional learning opportunities· Remaining current on new instructional methodologies, tools and resources and their use in the classroom· Working collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide small group literacy support to students in a push-in and pull-out format· Differentiating instruction and engaging students in rigorous content through well-planned, well-paced lessons to meet the various needs of studentsCover letter may be addressed to Dr. Candice Brodie, Asst.
