Effective Date: ImmediateQualifications:Successful candidates must possess:• Valid NYS Administrative Certification • Five years’ teaching experience and proven record of leadership • Extensive knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, science research programs and best practices in STEM instruction • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze standardized and local assessment data and use it to drive instructional practice, decision-making and goal setting • Strong interpersonal and communication skillsResponsibilities:• Guide development, implementation and evaluation of K-12 STEM instructional programs• Facilitate the district’s student research program and learning opportunities with the Director of Humanities• Create and foster academic partnerships including, but not limited to, ongoing programs with Cold Spring Harbor Labs/DNA Learning Center• Support elementary and secondary STEM instruction• Review, evaluate and recommend for adoption of all STEM materials and resources • Coordinate STEM professional development to ensure best practices are implemented in all secondary STEM and elementary classrooms • Observe teachers in the classroom setting to provide feedback in fostering student-centered instruction• Facilitate math, science and technology department meetings to ensure the departments stay informed on the latest research developments in STEM instruction• Supervise summer curriculum writing needs and summer science learning activities • Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to proactively address building and district needs • Facilitate secondary AIS services under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
