Requirements: NYS Special Education Teacher Certification preferred Salary: Per CTA contractSUMMARY: The CSE chair is a crucial role within our district that ensures students with disabilities receive the support and accommodations they need to succeed academically and socially. This position requires someone with strong leadership skills, knowledge of special education laws and policies, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators. Not only is the chairperson responsible for developing IEP's that are in compliance with the law, they are also tasked with implementing the district's special education programs, meeting within timelines established by NYS, as well as providing support and resources to teachers and students.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned.Coordinate/ schedule approximately 110 meeting agendas throughout the year within the districtFacilitate and meet on approximately 700 students in a school yearMaking special education service recommendations based on data/reports by service providersInterpret and make decisions based on those results for students to be placed in the LREAvailability to work during the summerMonitor psychologist evaluations and made recommendations for complianceMaintain accurate records and reportsKnowledgeable on NYS Part 200 regulations and Special Education LawDevelop/maintain communication with teachers regarding required data for CSECommunicate effectively with building principals regarding special education programsWork with local/county agencies on advocacyAttend monthly regional meetings regarding Special EducationInterface often with the NYS Regional Associate for compliance and parent complaintsKnowledgeable of the process and timelines for meeting deadlines for SEDHandle parent concerns and questions as neededExcellent verbal and written communication skills.OTHER:Performs related duties as required or assigned.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
