Croton-Harmon Schools is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Library Media Specialist to join the team at Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School. The ideal candidate is a creative partner who will help us reimagine the school experience by dismantling institutional barriers and creating a library that serves as the heart of innovation and exploration.Role Overview & Job ExpectationsThe Library Media Specialist at PVC is more than a curator of resources; they are a vital instructional partner in our interdisciplinary and passion-based learning ecosystem. Key expectations include:Facilitating Student-Driven Research: Provide deep instructional support for the Passion Pursuit program, assisting students as they research and design independent projects for the annual Passion Pursuit Pageant.Supporting Civic Engagement: Act as a research consultant for the 8th Grade CHANGE Project, helping students connect disciplines like history, science, and language arts to find solutions for real-world global and local issues.Collaborating Across Disciplines: Serve as a creative partner to faculty, uplifting collegial voice to design lessons that break down traditional subject boundaries and prioritize student inquiry.Managing Dynamic Learning Spaces: Transform the library into a flexible, dynamic space that ignites curiosity, supports experimentation, and prioritizes the well-being of all students and staff.Empowering Student Voice: Foster a culture of student voice and choice, guiding learners through "productive struggle" as they navigate complex information landscapes.Integrating Technology & Literacy: Support initiatives such as the Computer Science Fair and video production, ensuring students have the tools to express their learning in diverse, modern formats.
