Position Overview: The Croton-Harmon School District is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Varsity Head Coach to lead our student-athletes in both athletic development and character building. The Head Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the high school varsity program, including planning practices, developing game strategies, fostering sportsmanship, and mentoring student-athletes on and off the field.Reports to: Director of Health, Wellness, Physical Education and AthleticsStipend: $6,759 for the Spring 2026 Athletic Season as outlined by Section 1 Key Responsibilities:Provide leadership and supervision for the varsity team during practices, games, and events.Design and implement practice plans that promote skill development, teamwork, and competitiveness.Foster a positive team culture that reflects the values of the Croton-Harmon School District.Supervise assistant and JV/modified coaches to ensure program alignment and consistency.Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, school administration, and the athletic department.Monitor academic progress and support the overall well-being of student-athletes.Maintain equipment and manage team resources responsibly.Adhere to all school district, Section 1, and NYSPHSAA rules and regulations.Support and build relationships with local youth sports and community programs to develop a pipeline for future athletes.Qualifications:Prior coaching and/or playing experience preferred.In-depth knowledge of the sport, including rules, techniques, and strategies.Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Must meet all New York State coaching certification requirements, including:NYS Coaching License (Professional or Temporary)Current First Aid and CPR/AED CertificationDignity for All Students Act (DASA) and Child Abuse Identification (SAVE) trainingConcussion Management CertificationFingerprint Clearance through NYSEDDesired Qualities:Passion for mentoring and empowering young athletes.Positive role model with integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity.Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the program.
