LOCATION: Educational Support Services – 900 Watervliet ShakerBASIC FUNCTION:Duties involve responsibilities for carrying out the basic functions of a school library. The school library media specialist works collaboratively with classroom teachers to create experiences for learners to introduce and develop information literacy skills across grade levels and content areas. QUALIFICATIONS:A. NYS Certification as Library Media SpecialistB. Experience preferred The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001. RESPONSIBILITIES:Roll out of the re-imagined Information Fluency Continuum including introduction, connection with Next Gen standards and integration of formative assessmentsAssist in helping school librarians use the new School Library Program Rubric to develop strong programs.Develop continuing learning opportunities based on areas identified through the School Library Program Rubric needing to be strengthened across the region.Assist district librarians in implementation of National School Library Standards including introduction, scope and sequence, lesson development, alignment to Next Gen standards, etc.Embrace the concept of change as part of the profession and help school librarians adapt.Align work to Capital Region BOCES key commitments and be mindful of the vision, mission, and goals of multiple districts.
