Training as Evaluator of Teachers and previous administrative experience preferred. Competitive benefit package. www.cooperstowncs.orgJOB SUMMARY:Candidates must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of school operations, interface with parents, and work with diverse populations. Evaluate staff; provide input on the construction of the master schedule; discipline students in a fair and consistent manner; and direct instructional programs and collaborate with teachers and support staff. Position requires the planning, organization, and implementation of the appropriate instructional program to address the learning needs of the students to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their potential in both curricular and extracurricular activities.DUTIES:The Assistant Principal is responsible, but not limited to, the following duties:Assists the Principal(s) in the development, implementation, improvement, and evaluation of the instructional program ensuring conformance to state standards, the District’s code of conduct, and Board of Education goals and policies;Works collaboratively with all staff to strengthen the instructional program;Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school;Assumes responsibility for the safety of students and staff. Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program. Walks about the school building and property to monitor safety and security;Establishes effective communication and maintains positive relationships with district administrative offices, students, staff, parents, and community;Works with the Principal(s) in compiling annual budget requests;Assists in the preparation of the master schedules, staff assignments, student scheduling, cumulative records, and attendance reports;Assists in the communication, implementation, and observance of all Board policies and regulations by staff and students;Assists the Principal(s) in teacher evaluations;Responsible for special duty assignments as directed by the Principal(s);Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attend school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events, when possible;Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development;Assists in the recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating of the building staff.APPLICATION:Qualified individuals are encouraged to apply on-line at www.olasjobs.org or submit a letter of application, resume, district application for employment, copies of certification(s), and three letters of recommendation and references by June 26, 2023 to: Sarah Spross, Superintendent of Schools, 39 Linden Avenue Cooperstown, NY 13326.APPOINTMENT:Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service.SALARY: $60,000 to $80,000.
