The Cooperstown Central School District is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of School Nurse for the Junior/Senior High School. This is a full-time, ten (10) month position with a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary commensurate with experience. Additional summer hours may be available.The School Nurse has considerable leeway in the exercise of independent judgment in performing daily health inspections and related nursing services to school children. Duties are performed under the immediate supervision of the School Principal and in accordance with established medical procedures and objectives outlined by school authorities.Qualified candidates will possess a Nursing Degree and Nursing Licensure in the State of NY. RN Licensure and school experience preferred.Successful candidates will have excellent attention to detail regarding document submission, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to liaise and collaborate with professionals in various disciplines and at different levels in order to best advocate for needs of children.In this role, you will effectively (1) help students and their families understand and accept the significance of health needs and plan and assume responsibility for obtaining necessary health care. (2) interpret pupils’ health needs to the school staff and assist school personnel in planning and implementing all necessary modification of the educational program for each child as it relates to health. (3) assist with sports physicals and periodic medical updates for all interscholastic athletes. Confers with coaches concerning medical, legal, and insurance aspects of the sports program.
