The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES located in Auburn, NY is now accepting applications for a NYS Certified Teaching Assistant in our Alternative Education Program, the Compass Program. The Compass Program at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is an alternative education program for middle and high school students who have experienced difficulty in attaining school success within a traditional learning environment. The program offers small class sizes and individualized support to help prepare students for a Regent’s diploma. The Compass Program offers: Small group instruction, at grade level, within a supportive setting Increased student engagement created from a project-based learning model Exposure to the community through public resources and academic field trips Strong development of communication between home and school Involvement in a full-day block schedule A structured program environment with clear expectations Accountability for individual actions Positive Incentive Programs Candidates should possess the ability to work with diverse middle and high school students in a variety of educational settings. NYS Certification as a Teaching Assistant is required before the start date.
