TITLE: Director of Instructional Support ServicesREPORTS: Deputy SuperintendentQUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess or be eligible for NYS Certification as SDA or SDL. At least three(3) years administrative/supervisory experience in a school setting preferred. Candidates must demonstrate competence in staff supervision, instructional leadership, financial planning, oral and written communication.WORK YEAR: Twelve (12) month positionSALARY: Starting at $110,000, commensurate with experienceDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Purpose and Values Articulate, advocate and cultivate the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES purpose and values.Develop a shared understanding of, and commitment to, the purpose and values within the school and the community.Ethics and Professional Norms Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision making, stewardship of the BOCES resources, and all aspects of school leadership.Equity and Cultural Responsiveness Address matters of equity and cultural responsiveness in all aspects of leadership.Curriculum, Instruction, and AssessmentCoordinate the School Improvement Co-SerServe as primary resource for school improvement efforts in component districts and within the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCESProvide consultation services for component school districts in developing, implementing, and monitoring school programsPromote the effective use of technology in the service of teaching and learning.Provide a vision and build enthusiasm for change in K-12 learning environmentsResearch and promote cutting edge strategies and initiatives for effective PK–12 schoolsAnticipate district needs based on federal, state and local initiatives and relevant dataServe as a region wide resource to support New York State Education Department initiativesCommunity of Care and SupportProvide an inclusive, caring, and supportive professional community that promotes the success and well-being of all staff and students.Supervision and Leadership Oversee all of Instructional Support Services, including the Professional Development Unit, Model Schools, Teacher Center, Library Media Services, Learning Technologies, Distance Learning and E-Learning, Courier Service and Copy and Printing Services,Facilitate and represent the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES at regional and statewide meetings, committees, and other events, in support of the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Instructional Support ServicesSupervise School Library Systems Coordinator, Coordinator of Technology (anticipated), Coordinator of Professional Development, Curriculum Coordinators.Professional Capacity of School PersonnelCoordinate and Supervise all Professional Development ServicesBe accountable for providing vision, focus, and leadership to all professional development services offered through the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES for the benefit of school improvement efforts and the children of the component districts Align service design, staff training, and effort with district initiatives and data.Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of quality professional development providersDevelop teachers’ and staff members’ professional knowledge, skills, and practice through differentiated opportunities for learning and growth, guided by understanding of professional and adult learning and development.Develop the capacity, opportunities, and support for teacher leadership and leadership from other members of the school community.Participate in the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Curriculum and Staff Development CouncilMeaningful Engagement with StakeholdersCreate and sustain positive, collaborative and productive relationships with component district school leaders and staff including Chief School Officers, School Business Officials, Principals, Technology Directors, Teachers, and committees.Engage in regular and open two-way communication with stakeholders and respond promptly and fully to all requests.Maintain a presence in the community to understand its strengths and needs, develop productive relationships, and engage its resources for schools.Create communication systems to promote region wide collaboration Extra Curricular LeadershipCoordinate Extra Curricular Services such as the Arts in Education, Resource Center for the Gifted, and Exploratory Enrichment Co-Sers.Lead and organize the following enrichment activitiesOdyssey of the Mind: Serve as Region 11 Director for the NYSOMA, attend state director meetings, and provide overall coordination and organization of OM activities for Region 11 of NYS.First Lego Robotics Competition: Coordinate the regional competition.Summer STEAM Camp: Coordinate instructor selection, schedule classes, handle site preparation, supervision, and paymentsThree Lakes Sampler: Supervise timely acquisition of student art and written materials, lay out design, proofreading, production and distribution of the sampler, and coordinate the exhibition of published works at Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center.Operations and ManagementDevelop and Administer annual budgets for all Instructional Support ServicesSeek, acquire, and manage fiscal, physical, and other resources to support curriculum, instruction, and assessment; student learning community; professional capacity and community; and family and community engagement.Conduct procedures for preview, evaluation, acquisition and circulation of instructional materials.Advise the BOCES and component schools on technology planning, equipment and services, in collaboration with the Technology Coordinator (anticipated)OtherPerform all other duties and assignments as designated by the District Superintendent or their designee
