Please see the job description below: REPORTS TO: Deputy SuperintendentQUALIFICATIONS: Must possess New York State certification as a School District Leader (SDL) and School Building Leader (SBL). Should have at least four years of successful teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to college and career preparation. Prior leadership experience preferred.WORK YEAR: Twelve (12) month positionJOB OBJECTIVE: The Director/Principal of Career and Technical Education provides instructional leadership, development, and innovation for our Career and Technical Education programming offered at the BOCES. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: LeadershipProvide outstanding leadership to staff, students and the community at larger, in the administration of all Career and Technical Education Programs and the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCESChampion workforce development and maximizing meaningful experiences and opportunities for CTE students Purpose and Values Articulate, advocate and cultivate the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES purpose and values.Develop a shared understanding of, and commitment to, the purpose and values within the school and the community.Ethics and Professional Norms Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision making, stewardship of the BOCES resources, and all aspects of school leadership.Equity and Cultural Responsiveness Ensure that each student is treated fairly, respectfully, and with an understanding of each student’s culture and context.Address student misconduct in a positive, fair, and unbiased manner, according to policy.Act with cultural competence and responsiveness in interactions, decision making, and practiceCurriculum, Instruction and AssessmentAnalyze state, regional and local labor market and trend data, and advise on the development of new and consistent restructuring of existing CTE program offeringsLead ongoing discussion, coordination and alignment of CTE and workforce development programs with secondary partners, advisory committee, local occupational programs, college programs, business/industry partners that will enhance learning experiences and opportunities for studentsImplement coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment that promote the purpose and values of the BOCES, embody high expectations for student learning, and align with academic and industry standardsCommunity of Care and Support for Students Build and maintain a safe, caring, and healthy school environment that meets that the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each studentProvide coherent systems of academic and social supports, services, extracurricular activities, and accommodations to meet the range of learning needs of each student.Professional Capacity of School Personnel Recruit, hire, support, develop, and retain effective and caring teachers and other professional staff Deliver actionable feedback about instruction and other professional practice through valid, research-anchored systems of supervision and evaluation to support the development of teachers’ and staff members’ knowledge, skills, and practice.Promote and support collaboration between faculty and industry partners to ensure alignment between program design, industry standards and labor market needs.Professional Community for Teachers and Staff Develop workplace conditions for teachers and other professional staff that promote effective professional development, practice, and student learning.Develop and support open, productive, caring, and trusting working relationships among leaders, faculty, and staff to promote professional capacity and the improvement of practice.Design and implement job-embedded and other opportunities for professional learning collaboratively with faculty and staff.Encourage faculty-initiated improvement of programs and practices.Meaningful Engagement of Families and Community Create and sustain positive, collaborative, and productive relationships with families and the community for the benefit of students.Maintain a presence in the community to understand its strengths and needs, develop productive relationships with business and industry partners, and engage its resources for the school. Build and sustain productive partnerships with component school district staff to promote school improvement and student learning.Operations and Management Manage and report on the finance, operations and administrative systems required to effectively lead and promote the purpose and values of the BOCESSeek, acquire, and manage fiscal, physical, and other resources to support student learning and program relevance, supervises their storage, distribution, inventory and maintenance Prepare preliminary CTE operating budget(s) for submission to the appropriate senior administrator for review and approvalPrepare, submit and manage the annual Carl Perkins Grant, including assuring grant guidelines and reporting requirements are metSchool ImprovementDevelop appropriate systems of data collection, management, analysis, and use, connecting as needed to component districts and community partners for support in planning, implementation, monitoring, feedback, and evaluation of programs Develop and promote leadership among teachers and staff for inquiry, experimentation and innovation, and initiating and implementing improvement.
