Employment OpportunitySchool CounselorProbationaryLocation of the Position: Center Moriches High SchoolPotential Start Date: 09/02/2025Certification(s) Required: New York State School Counselor CertificateSalary: As per CMTA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)Position Description:Center Moriches High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to support our students in their academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary journeys. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, families, and staff to create individualized plans and provide guidance in a variety of areas, which include: Develop and maintain a four-year graduation pathway and post-secondary student plans;Provide academic, college & career, and social-emotional counseling to support student success;Conduct classroom lessons on college and career planning, course offerings, and other topics;Assist students in conflict resolution, decision-making, and goal-setting;Support students with college applications, trade school enrollment, job readiness (resume building, job applications), BOCES programs, and scholarship opportunities;Offer resources and referrals for students and families needing outside support for mental health or substance abuse concerns;Serve as an active member of the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and Section 504 meetings;Organize and facilitate college information sessions and parent nights to guide families through the post-secondary planning process;Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to ensure students receive the necessary academic and emotional support;Help the coordination of work-based learning opportunities for students; andStay informed on college admissions trends, workforce development, and social-emotional learning strategies to best support students.Interested candidates are requested to provide a letter of interest no later than:04/09/2025All applicants must apply through OLAS.Cover Letters Addressed To:Mrs. Marissa Mangogna, Center Moriches High School Building PrincipalCenter Moriches High School - 311 Frowein Road, Center Moriches, NY 11934mmangogna@cmschools.orgEMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT - Fingerprint clearance from the NY State Department of Education (NYSED).
