The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving 3500 students in Westchester County. We are committed to hiring an inclusive teaching staff to create warm, joyful, student-centered, and welcoming schools.Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the Interim position of Elementary Assistant Principal beginning immediately at Westorchard Elementary School.Essential FunctionsAssists in the development and administration of teaching and learning opportunities consistent with district goals and vision.Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extracurricular activities.Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.Actively engages in personal and professional growth through various learning opportunities.Encourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and works with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs.Collaborates with staff on all issues related to teaching and learning.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and families.Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation protocols.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of progressive and innovative instructional methods and educational pedagogy.Knowledge of the reading and writing workshop model and the gradual release structure.Knowledge of inquiry and project based learning through effective technology integration. Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.Knowledge of special education, CSE process and Section 504.Strong interpersonal skills with all key stakeholders to help build and nurture a positive school climate and culture.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and peers.Certification/Experience:NYS SBL or SAS or SDL or SDA Certification as required for position.Extensive successful teaching experience, preferably at the Elementary School level, and preferably in more than one grade level.Successful experience as an assistant principal is preferred.This position includes a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and extensive opportunities for professional development and mentor support.Salary Range: $135,000 - $151,000NOTE: In addition to applying on OLAS, please also apply on FrontLine (go to www.chappaquaschools.org and follow "Join Our Team" in the "QuickLinks" pulldown).
