The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving 3500 students in Westchester County. We are committed to hiring an inclusive teaching staff to create warm, joyful, student-centered, and welcoming schools.Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of Science Research Teacher beginning 8/28/25.Note: applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPrior experience as a high school science teacher with experience teaching Science Research.Experience working with students, both in the whole group and 1:1 settings, to identify and develop a focus for an ongoing science research study. Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning, flexible spaces and differentiation of instruction.Communicate with science research organizations and committees, such as The Westchester Science & Engineering Fair.Flexibility to meet with the research mentors of the science research students (including summer months).Have a deep understanding of high school science research competitions (organizing student competitions, raising funds, recruiting judges for events, etc.).Extensive knowledge of NYS Science Learning Standards with an emphasis on skill development through a study of biology, chemistry, and/or physics.Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon various data points, student learning styles and brain based research. Committed to student-centered and student-driven learning experiences with opportunities for student voice and choice.Candidates will be encouraged to contribute to the vision of our STEAM initiative and our SEL work (knowledge of RULER is a plus).Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Ability to work productively and collaboratively with the faculty and student body.Facilitates coaching throughout the entire research process from research plan to presenting their findings in both written and oral presentations. Continues to engage in meaningful professional learning opportunities through readings, workshops, podcasts, conferences, and an active PLN. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within the department, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Certification/License:New York State Certification as a Science Education Teacher Grades 7 - 12.This position includes a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and extensive opportunities for professional development and mentor support.Salary Range (as of 24/25 school year): $70,467 - $151,438Apply here on OLAS as well as through our website www.chappaquaschools.org (pull-down "Quicklinks", then "Join Our Team").
