Chappaqua CSD is looking for an innovative educator to serve in the anticipated position of Leave Replacement Social Studies Teacher at the Robert E. Bell Middle School (anticipated mid-January to mid-May 2024).Essential FunctionsNYS Social Studies CertificationThorough knowledge of the NYS Social Studies Standards with a strong history and literacy background. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Strong understanding of adolescent development.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.Candidates will be encouraged to contribute to the vision of our SEL work (knowledge of RULER is a plus).Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Experience with social and emotional learning preferred.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Encourages family involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and families.Certification/License:Required: NYS Social Studies CertificationThis position includes a competitive salary based on experience, and extensive opportunities for professional development.
