The priority in Chappaqua is clear: to be a learning organization where talented individuals from diverse backgrounds feel seen and valued, and are committed to doing their best work!Chappaqua CSD is looking for a child-centered, dynamic & passionate educator to serve in an Anticipated Probationary English Teacher position at the secondary level (effective immediately)Essential FunctionsFamiliar with NYS ELA Standards and uses them for unit and lesson plan development.Strong, broad knowledge of fiction and non-fiction literature, both classic and contemporary, with a particular focus on American texts.Thoughtfully centers equity in the daily learning experiences to support the students' awareness of identity, inclusivity and social justice. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Be prepared to engage in training around the creative use of space and technology to enhance instruction and demonstrate a curiosity and willingness to explore the assessment of skills and effort through the mastery of content.Experience with social and emotional learning and building a positive classroom culture that focuses on the development of the whole child.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Encourages parental involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Certification/License:New York State Certification as an English Education Teacher Grades 7 - 12.This position includes a competitive salary, benefits and extensive opportunities for professional development.Application deadline: ASAP
