Our community maintains one priority - always do what is in the best interest of our students!Chappaqua CSD is looking for a dynamic & innovative literacy expert to serve in the probationary position of Elementary School Reading Teacher for Grades K-4.Skills/Knowledge/ExperienceKnowledge of the reading and writing workshop models, gradual release, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.Knowledge and experience implementing reading interventions to support identified students.Knowledge of the TC Units of Study, LLI, Wilson and other research based literacy instructional support resources.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Ability to review various data points (i.e. - running records) to develop a targeted intervention plan for an elementary student in need of support in reading.Can administer educational evaluations to use as a basis for making eligibility determinations.Assists in developing Individual Education Plans ("IEP") for students with goals that student specific and informed by various data points. Continues to engage in meaningful professional learning opportunities through readings, workshops, podcasts, conferences, and an active professional learning network.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Experience: Successful prior reading teacher experience with students who require reading interventions to address decoding and comprehension gaps.Certification/License: New York State Certification as a Literacy (B - 6).
