Duties/Skills: Knowledge of New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, middle school curriculum, and instruction. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by supporting and encouraging ongoing professional growth that enhances instructional practice and student learning. Promote and support effective literacy instruction across all content areas to strengthen students’ reading, writing, and communication skills. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of data analysis protocols and effectively use data to communicate the strengths and areas of improvement for the instructional program. Work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, families, and administrators to implement the District’s Code of Conduct, ensuring all processes honor students’ rights and adhere to due process requirements. Apply high professional standards to the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the school’s professional staff. Maintain the physical and emotional safety of the school, including but not limited to the planning and supervision of all safety drills and the building’s emergency preparedness program. Ability to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment, with a focus on restorative practices. Willing and able to work in a collaborative and inclusive educational environment. Understanding of a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Oversee a building of over 325 students and over 45 staff members. Coordinate student personnel services, including implementation of a positive and productive educational climate. Develop a Master Schedule that supports high-quality instruction while meeting the social and emotional needs of students. Conduct classroom observations and staff evaluations in accordance with APPR guidelines. Stay current by participating in regional, state, and local meetings. Provide leadership for the planning, development, and implementation of middle school curriculum and evaluation of instructional programs. Utilize the SST process to improve student achievement and analyze data to inform curriculum and instruction. Work collaboratively with parents/guardians and community members to increase understanding and support for the school. Provide input into the development of the building budget. Maintain an efficient and effective facility, adhering to health and safety standards. Ensure all required reports and mandates are met by board, local, and state requirements. Demonstrate leadership skills that will encourage students and staff to achieve at high levels. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, ability to inspire, sensitivity to concerns of others, enthusiasm, dependability, integrity, openness to change, and the desire to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community. Demonstrate support for school programs through high visibility at school and community functions and events. Other duties include community/school events and other duties as assigned by the superintendent of schools. Preferred: Experience as a successful building leader. Understanding and implementation of the MTSS process and evidence of data-informed decision making. Strong understanding of NYSED standards, assessments, and best practices. Completion of AAPR Lead Evaluator training. Qualifications: New York State Certification School District Administrator (SDA) or School Building Leader (SBL), or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS). Application: Effective: July 1, 2026.
