The district operates three elementary schools (K-4), one middle school (5-8), and one high school (9-12), with a community-centered mission to educate the whole student through partnerships, lifelong learning, and character development. The district values high expectations, community engagement, and a safe, inclusive environment where all feel respected and empowered.Interim- Athletic DirectorReports To-Superintendent of Schools and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & InstructionLocation- District-Wide, based at Carmel High School ResponsibilitiesOversee planning, coordination, and supervision of all interscholastic athletic programs at the middle and high school levels.Ensure all athletic programs comply with NYSPHSAA and local regulations as well as district policies and values.Supervise, evaluate, and support coaches, athletic staff and faculty, promoting professional development and ethical leadership.Develop annual athletic budgets, coordinate scheduling of athletic events and facilities, and monitor equipment and uniform inventory.Maintain accurate records of team and athlete participation, achievements, and compliance.Foster communication among athletics, administration, academic departments, families, and the broader community.Lead initiatives for sportsmanship, student-athlete academic success, and community outreach.Ensure equitable access and opportunity for all students, embracing diversity and inclusion within athletics programming.Collaborate with school administrators and staff to ensure the maintenance of and the enhancement of athletic facilities and spaces.QualificationsDemonstrated experience in athletic administration, coaching, or education leadership.Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations governing school athletics.Ability to support and mentor diverse coaching staff and student-athletes.Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Advanced degree in athletics administration or education leadership preferred.School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certificationPhysical Education certified preferred.More About the PositionThe Athletic Director will play an integral part in the Carmel Central School District’s commitment to holistic student development.
