Director of Physical Education, Health & AthleticsLocated just 45 minutes north of New York City in Armonk, the award-winning Byram Hills School District offers rigorous standards for students and seeks educators and administrators with a passion for learning, commitment to students, and dedication to working as a team with parents and staff.The position of Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics requires a collaborative leader with physical education and health teaching, coaching, and administrative experience who is a student-centered decision maker and team player. The Director will oversee all K-12 physical education and health programs and interscholastic/intramural athletic programs in partnership with the building principals. The successful candidate will:Oversee K-12 physical education and health curriculum, ensuring compliance with state standards and alignment with current wellness and fitness best practices.Promote a shared vision of athletics that emphasizes character, perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship.Observe and evaluate K-12 physical education teachers, health education teachers, and coaches to enhance teacher/coach performance.Provide supervision of the interscholastic and intramural athletic programs including staffing, scheduling, transportation, and budgeting.Plan and support professional development regarding instructional programs for teachers and coaches.Ensure adherence to all District policies, NYSPHSAA rules and safety regulations surrounding student-athlete eligibility, conduct, and participation.Enhance communication to engage stakeholders, including students, parents, faculty and community members, in a shared commitment to the goals of the athletic department and mission of the District.Consult and collaborate with talented teachers and coaching staff, supportive parents and a dedicated administrative team.Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent or designee.Qualifications:Minimum of five years of experience as a successful teacher and coach.Prior administrative experience in physical education, health and athletics.Valid NYS Certification (SDA or SDL)Start Date: January 5, 2026Compensation: $175,000 to $195,000
