BYRAM HILLS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICTARMONK, NYACCOUNTANTJob Duties:Performs general accounting duties such as maintaining a general ledger, making journal entries, advising supervisors in regard to appropriate balances and fund transfers, and reconciling trial balances, bank statements, and accounts. (approximately 80% of duties of the position including but not limited to below)Creates, prepares and directs the preparation of various statistical and analytical reports for various audits in compliance with state and federal requirements;Assists in the preparation of the annual New York State ST-3 financial report by providing itemized data for assigned fund accounts;Coordinates with Special Education the billing of non-residents and public school enrolled special education students;Supports BOCES coordination of services and payments;Coordinates the acceptance of gifts/donations and related accounting in compliance with Board policyProvides oversight and necessary guidance for Extra Classroom Activities Fund Treasurers;Assists in the preparation and reconciliation of monthly bank statements;Oversees Federal/State Grant fund account balances and prepares FS10F and FS25 forms(s) for State Grants.Completes quarterly sales tax reporting for the School Lunch Program;Manages health insurance and other benefits available to employees and communicates to active employees and retirees; (approximately 10% of the job duties position)Acts as Purchasing Agent with tasks as needed. (approximately 5% of the duties position)Assists Payroll Supervisor with tasks as needed. (approximately 5% of the duties posiiton)Knowledge and Skills:Knowledge of principles, practices and terminology of general and governmental accounting; knowledge of computerized application of accounting systems Nvision preferred; Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy, initiative, resourcefulness and integrity; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and practice good judgement.Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or closely related field of study which must have 24 credits in Accounting and two (2) years of experience where the primary function of the position was professional accounting or auditing. Previous experience in school district setting preferred.Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000
