MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Seeking special education teacher to provide direct instruction to students with significant disabilities ages 18-21 in the Project SEARCH program at Lourdes Hospital. The focus of this position includes instruction in transition, independent living, and employability skills, as well as supervision of student internships. Key responsibilities include:Design, facilitate, implement and monitor progress of IEP goals, as well as design and support internship opportunities within Lourdes HospitalUtilize evidence-based instructional strategies and methods, including differentiation, to meet diverse student needs specifically related to employment and transition goalsStructure the student environment in order to provide a supportive educational setting that maximizes student potentialOn-going collaboration with the student’s team to ensure the provision of quality services. This includes facilitating family involvement and working directly with our host business partner, Lourdes Hospital, as well as employment agencies such as ACCES-VR and Community Options.Support students to achieve high expectations with the goal of competitive employment at the conclusion of the programAccurately complete all paperwork related to provided services in a timely manner as mandated by New York State and school policies and proceduresNYS Certification as a Special Education TeacherStrong collaboration skills coupled with the ability to be an independent thinker and advocate for student internsKnowledge of positive behavior intervention strategies is preferredA commitment to meeting the needs of every studentA strong belief that all students can succeedExperience in transition planning preferred
