The Bay Shore Union Free School District , an equal opportunity employer, is seeking exceptional candidates for a Director of ENL, Dual and World Language . The Director provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the district’s English as a New Language (ENL), World Language, and K-12 Dual Language programs. The primary goal is to ensure equitable access to high-quality instruction, foster bilingualism and biliteracy, and support the academic success of multi-language learners across the district. Key Responsibilities 1. Instructional Leadership & Program Development Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of the district's Dual Language immersion programs. Ensure the ENL program meets all New York State Part 154 compliance requirements and provides scaffolds for English Language Learners (ELLs). Align the World Language curriculum with the NYS Learning Standards and promote the Seal of Biliteracy . 2. Staff Supervision & Professional Development Recruit, supervise, and evaluate ENL and, Dual Language and World Language faculty. Design and facilitate professional development focused on culturally responsive-sustaining education and research-based ENL strategies (e.g., SIOP, Scaffolding). Collaborate with district and building-level administrators to ensure consistent instructional practices across all school buildings. 3. Compliance & Administrative Oversight Manage state and federal grants (e.g., Title III) and coordinate the district budget related to department programs. Oversee the screening, identification, and placement process for newly enrolled ELLs, as well as Language Proficiency Team and Progress Monitoring Meetings. Maintain accurate student records and reporting in systems like Infinite Campus to ensure data integrity for state reporting. 4. Community & Family Engagement Liaison for our district-wide Multilingual Parent Engagement Initiative. Promote the value of multilingualism within the broader school community. Qualifications & Requirements Certification: Valid New York State School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification. Academic Background: Master’s Degree in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in ENL, World Language, or Dual Language settings; previous administrative experience preferred. Skills: * Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is highly preferred, with a deep knowledge of NYS Part 154 regulations.
