BRENTWOOD UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT BRENTWOOD, NY 11717 The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school district, announces the following vacancy for an articulate, analytical, dedicated, progressive, and creative educations leader: Biology Teacher(s) Qualifications: Must hold NYS Biology 7-12 Certification Successful public school teaching experience preferred Responsibilities: Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous biology and general science instruction that meets the diverse academic, cultural, and social-emotional needs of students. Continuously monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies and interventions to improve student understanding and achievement. Establish and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring that all students understand, adhere to, and take ownership of established expectations and procedures. Design and implement standards-aligned laboratory investigations that support inquiry-based learning and prepare students for required Regents-level laboratory experiences. Ensure strict adherence to all laboratory safety protocols and maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including lab participation records, safety logs, and assessment data. Promote student engagement in scientific inquiry by encouraging and supporting participation in science fairs, competitions, and related academic enrichment opportunities. Maintain accurate and timely student records, including attendance, grades, and progress reports, in accordance with district and state guidelines. Develop and organize instructional materials, including lesson plans, assessments, and assignments, aligned to curriculum standards and instructional goals. Facilitate meaningful classroom discussions that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and student voice. Select, manage, and maintain instructional resources, including textbooks, technology, and laboratory equipment, to support effective teaching and learning.
