BRENTWOOD UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT BRENTWOOD, NY 11717 The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school district, announces the following vacancy for an articulate, analytical, dedicated, progressive, and creative educator: RESEARCH SCIENCE TEACHER Qualifications Valid New York State Teaching Certification in a STEM field. Ph.D. or M.S. in engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, physical sciences, or related discipline. Demonstrated experience supporting student - driven research, including guiding successful projects for national and international competitions. Responsibilities Demonstrate proven success in writing, managing, and executing grants to support laboratory - based STEM programs. Publish scientific research in relevant fields and maintain active engagement in scholarly work. Mentor students in developing formal research projects, including identifying emerging STEM topics, designing experimental approaches, and conducting research within an in - house laboratory environment. Engage high school students in STEM outreach initiatives, with a focus on creating programming that supports elementary - level learners. Serve as a liaison for university, laboratory, and industry partnerships, collaborating closely with the Coordinator of Math, Science, and Technology to ensure district - wide alignment and impact. Operate laboratory equipment proficiently, including tools for imaging analysis, organism culture, bioassays, data analysis, and scientific presentations. Order, maintain, and safely handle biochemical reagents; apply knowledge of molecular biology techniques, bioinformatics, and field sampling methods. Utilize computational and statistical tools—including JMP, R, Arduino, Microsoft Excel, and Python—to support data analysis, research design, and instructional activities.
