Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education (Interim) (Starting date: September 30, 2023) All applicants must hold NYS Administrative Certification SDA/SDL. Major responsibilities include: Serve as a Cabinet member while providing input on all aspects of the BUFSD educational program. Create direction, leadership, and vision for secondary schools through collaboration with sites, ensuring alignment with district vision, mission, and goals Meet regularly with district academic leadership teams and specifically building leaders Design processes for implementing change and improving student achievement so that all students succeed Work with building leadership and coordinators in the improvement of individual staff competencies to work towards identified district-wide goals and vision Work collaboratively with district level administrators to improve achievement, and prepare all students for career and college readiness Lead graduation initiative implementation Provide supervision for expansion of internship partnerships and increase student participation in internships Monitor the implementation of the secondary school improvement plansCollaborate with administrators and staff to develop the secondary level budget. Supervise creation of school schedules and staffing plans Support family engagement and community partnerships Evaluate all secondary principals, and other administrators as assigned Work cooperatively with Attendance and Registration, and Special Services Departments concerning student intake, Suffolk County homeless students in the district and to ensure compliance with the McKinney-Vento Act Meet with staff to supervise and evaluate New York State census and register reports, enrollment projections and forecasts Other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. Requirements include but are not limited to: Minimum 3 years’ administrative experience and 5 years as classroom teacher Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Knowledge and understanding of the Brentwood Community Diverse and Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
