Brewster Central School District believes that the continuous evolution of professional practice for the benefit of students occurs most effectively through the Professional Learning Community model. Brewster Central School District anticipates a 1.0 FTE School Social Worker (District-Wide Community Outreach Specialist/Parent Coordinator) to join our community of professional learners. Effective October 17, 2022.Parent and family outreach and support:Field communications from parents/families seeking support for school-based issuesConnect families to community resourcesAssist families in navigating the school systemCollaborate with the Deputy Superintendent and other administrators to facilitate community engagement activitiesCreate and participate in focus groups with parent leaders; survey parents on relevant mattersWelcome new families that arrive at schools after registration at the District Office / during the registrations Assist in the planning of English and Spanish-speaking Parent UniversityCommunity outreach and connection:Attend social functions, explore student opportunities/committees, and develop how to best leverage engagement in these areasGet acquainted with and explore opportunities with community organizations Professional learning: Receive training on a number of topics, including but not limited to: working with families that have experienced trauma, and ACEsConnect with others who hold a similar title in neighboring school districts to learn best practicesQualifications - Must hold a NYS Certification School Social Worker Required; Spanish bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.The Brewster CSD will only consider electronic, online form submissions made through the OLAS.
