Assistant Director of PE, Health and AthleticsThe Bedford Central School District is seeking an Assistant Director of PE, Health and Athletics commencing with the 2024/2025 school year.Primary Function:To provide support and assist the Athletic Department including the Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics, Office Support Staff and Coaches in the overall management of the BCSD PE/Health and Athletic Department. Certifications:NYS valid District Administrator Certification (SDL/SDA) required.NYS valid PE Certification preferred. NYS Health Certification preferred, not required. Qualifications:At least 5 years effective PE/Health teaching experience Effectively communicate verbally, with written word, with excellent organizational and human resource skills. Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth.Primary Responsibilities and Expectations: Reporting directly to the Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics, the Assistant Director will possess the following skills:Ability to select and evaluate professional physical education and health staff as well as coaching staff;Deep understanding of NYS physical education and health curriculum standards and knowledge of best instructional practices;Observe and evaluate Health, Physical Education Teachers according to the BTA contract;Ability to foster positive relationships with student athletes, teachers, coaches, and the community-at-large;Strong organizational skills;Knowledge of state and sectional policies and procedures;Successful teaching and coaching experience;Cultivate relationships with parents and partnerships with community organizations in support of the Health, PE & Athletic programming; Assist and manage the development of Health & PE curriculum to enhance and develop all students K-12;Assist the Director in the development of an annual budget, Board presentations and its implementation;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff members including administrators, teachers and support staff.Candidates should apply by June 7, 2024.The Bedford Central School District does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
