The Bedford Central School District is seeking anAssistant Director of Special EducationEffective July 1, 2023 - Probationary Track PositionMember of Bedford Association of School Administrators (BASA)Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, the Assistant Director for Special Education will maintain on-going accountability for and assessment of each student with disabilities who is under the jurisdiction of the district. They will coordinate and participate in all CSE meetings and annual reviews and collaborate with sub-committees, schools, parents and outside agencies. The AD will maintain working knowledge of new and existing programs and agencies as needed by the department. They will supervise and evaluate CSE staff, special education and support staff. Duties and responsibilities: Chairs all CSE meetings, except Annual Reviews where the responsibility is shared. Assume responsibility for CSE follow-up activities, record maintenance and organize follow up procedures. Maintains on-going accountability for and assessment of each student with disabilities within the district including recommendations and services. Maintains availability to parents, students and staff. Function as a case manager for all CSE students placed out of the district. Works in cooperation with the Director of Special Education, BOCES and with outside agencies in matters related to students with disabilities.
