BUS MONITORS 2025-2026 School Year The Beacon City School District is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Per Diem Bus Monitors. Position Overview: This work involves responsibility for the routine supervision and care of school-age children as well as the maintaining order on school buses, supervising the conduct of problem students and interceding in student altercations. Responsibilities include: Monitors students in parking lots and supervises the loading of buses; Accompanies students to and from school to maintain order on buses; Supervises and/or attempts to calm students; Informs superiors of observations of student behavior; May assist in rendering first aid in emergencies. Full Performance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to get along well with school-age children and command their respect; Good observation; Personal characteristics necessary to perform the duties of the position; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position: Standard #1: Bus Steps - 3 trips up & down the bus steps in 30 seconds Standard #2: Door - Manually open and close entrance door 3 times Standard #3: Emergency Exit – From Driver Seat and out Exit in 20 seconds Standard #4: Weight Drag – 125 lbs 30 feet in 30 seconds Schedule & Appointment: Flexible work schedule tailored to district needs and the employee’s availability 6.5-hour day based on school schedule with a 30-minute unpaid lunch Appointment through June 25, 2026 Opportunities exist for employees with strong performance to move into roles with more consistent schedules Qualifications: NYS Fingerprinting clearance required $17.20/hour Civil Service Eligibility Required
