Minimum Qualifications:NYS Certification in SWD, Grades 7 – 12, SWD 7-12 Social Studies preferred;Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the following are required:Secondary Special Education teacher for Special class setting: 1:12:1 or 1:6:1 or Integrated Co-Taught classroom;NYS Learning Standards and curriculum design, delivery, and assessment for grades 7-12;Planning and delivery of specially designed instruction to support individual student academic, behavioral, physical and management needs;Effective, student centered classroom management strategies and individual interventions;IEP development and use of IEP Direct for record-keeping and documentation of student progress;Culturally responsive instructional practices for secondary classrooms;Integration of technology to plan, deliver, and assess student learning;Use of summative and formative student data to inform instructional decisions and student progress (for IEPs, RTI for reading and math interventions, FBA/BIP);Effective strategies for student and family engagement;Prior experience and training in implementing multicultural education and culturally responsive practices desired;Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills required;3-5 years prior related experience desired.
