The Blind Brook School District is looking for an energetic leader to serve in a probationary position as the Director of Health, Physical Education and Interscholastic Athletics. A description of the job responsibilities is below.Overview: The Director of Health, Physical Education and Interscholastic Athletics is directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment for all matters concerning the administration and supervision of the interscholastic athletic program as well as the district physical education and health programs. The position requires an individual who understands the transformative impact of a collaborative Leadership Team, who has the communication skills to work with a wide range of constituents, including Section One responsibilities and participation at the state level, and is committed to fostering a healthy culture. Qualifications: NYS Certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader and K-12 Physical Education. Job Responsibilities: Director of Health and Physical Education:Oversight of the curriculum and instruction for our health and physical education classes including all budgetary needsSupervise Health and Physical Education personnel, including performing APPR observations for staff in these and other departments, as neededSupport and plan ongoing professional learning for health and physical education staffCreate and manage budgets to support curriculum and instruction in physical education and healthRemain abreast of recent changes in regulations and emerging trends in the areas of physical education and health and communicate them to stakeholdersDirector of Interscholastic AthleticsInterview, hire, develop, evaluate, and maintain certification status of coaching staffWith district staff and outside groups, coordinate facility utilization schedule for all three seasonsPlan and facilitate regular meetings and orientations for parents, players, and coachesOversee the athletic placement process for 7th and 8th gradersAssist in the development of transportation schedules for the athletic programOversee all communications related to athletics through regular email updates, social media outlets, and the school and district websitesDevelop and manage the budget for interscholastic athletics, create and issue bids for equipment and services, and oversee the procurement and management of uniforms and equipment.Fulfill all mandatory responsibilities required for participation in Section I Athletics, including completion of paperwork, scheduling contests, representing the district at meetings, and remaining abreast of evolving policies and proceduresEnsure player and spectator safety at events and practices by scheduling appropriate staff/police supervision at contests, implementing procedures such as the district concussion protocol, and monitoring and coordinating field maintenanceDevelop, update, and enforce the Interscholastic Athletic HandbookChair or Participate in committees both in-District and outsideDistrict Wellness CommitteeAthletic Advisory CommitteeSalary commensurate with experience.
