Blind Brook School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled middle school special education teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have dual certification in special education and math or science and experience working in integrated co-teaching (ICT), consultant teacher, and resource room settings. We are looking for an educator who is knowledgeable in educational evaluations, differentiation, and IEP development while also demonstrating strong collaboration and communication skills.Responsibilities:Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in ICT, consultant teacher, and resource room settings.Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans that support diverse learning needs.Conduct and interpret educational evaluations to inform instruction and student support plans.Write, update, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) using IEP Direct in compliance with NYS regulations.Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.Utilize data to track student progress and adjust instruction as needed.Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and growth.Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a team-based approach to learning.Qualifications:New York State certification in students with disabilities (grades 5-9 or 7-12 required).Dual certification in special education and math or science preferred.Experience in ICT, consultant teacher, and/or resource room models.Strong knowledge of educational evaluations, differentiation strategies, and accommodations/modifications.Experience writing IEPs and familiarity with IEP Direct.Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.Blind Brook is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion and connectedness.
