Blind Brook Middle School seeks a dynamic and caring professional to fill a probationary 6th grade ELA teaching position. Candidates must have appropriate certification and should be eager to join a cohesive and innovative team of student-centered educators. The ideal candidate will:Have familiarity with a broad range of age-appropriate texts, including those representing voices outside of the traditional canon.Be able to engage all students in rich, dynamic, student-centered conversations about literature and communication.Be able to provide high-quality feedback and coach students on improving their writing and speaking skills.Have the strong collaboration skills needed to build and maintain alignment with teachers in other sections, grade levels, and buildings.Form strong, caring relationships with students and provide ample support for their social-emotional well-beingNYS Certification in Childhood Common Branch OR English 7-12 with grades 5-6 extension required.
